Joshua Rice Design is a Dallas, Texas-based studio specializing in sophisticated and distinctive interiors. Known for its sculptural minimalism and material-driven approach, the firm combines modern refinement with timeless craftsmanship, always incorporating carefully curated selections of rare and significant design pieces. Founded by Joshua Rice, the studio brings a thoughtful sensibility to every project, balancing raw, natural materials with precise detailing and clean architectural forms. With a portfolio spanning residential, furniture, and boutique commercial work, Joshua Rice Design is recognized for creating spaces that feel intentional, quiet, and deeply refined. Each project reflects a commitment to quality, originality, and a deep appreciation for the intersection of art, architecture, and design. One of the studio’s standout projects is a modernist apartment in Dallas, originally designed in the 1980s by renowned Texas architect Bud Oglesby. Located in a walkable, tree-lined neighborhood, the residence reflects Oglesby’s signature restraint, proportion, and precision—qualities that guided Joshua Rice Design’s thoughtful reinterpretation.
While preserving the architectural framework, the interior was reimagined with a calm, layered palette of soft tans, terracotta, mineral putty, and warm ochres. Patinated materials like Brazilian quartzite, oak parquet, and Saltillo terracotta tiles ground the space with quiet richness.
The result is both refined and deeply personal: a home shaped by clarity, care, and intention. Subtle design gestures—such as a bold blue library wall—introduce contrastwithout disrupting harmony.
The project embodies the studio’s ethos: honoring architectural legacy while infusing each space with material honesty, restraint, and enduring warmth.
