Valleydale is a modern family residence set within a wooded Dallas neighborhood of midcentury houses. The architecture called for openness and natural light, though the primary living and dining areas needed greater definition and a stronger sense of order.
Joshua Rice Design approached the interiors by introducing separation without enclosure. A custom steel tension-rod shelving system establishes rhythm between living and dining spaces while preserving openness, light, and visual continuity. A floating black ribbed steel fireplace anchors the terminal wall of the main living area, giving the plan a stronger focal point and a clearer internal structure.
Across the house, tonal finishes, warm natural materials, soft textures, and rounded edges create an atmosphere suited to family life without sacrificing design discipline. Vintage and collectible furnishings add depth and individuality, though the overall effect remains controlled and understated. The result is a residence that feels open, refined & fully livable.
